BALLET - (Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate & Advanced Foundation)

We follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.  Students can study for their RAD examinations, however this is not compulsory.

The RAD is one of the world’s most influential dance education and training organisations, with its global headquarters in London. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn to dance.

2 classes a week are required for students completing RAD exams.

Open Ballet

These classes focus on classical ballet technique and body conditioning technique designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. Excellent for improving posture, flexibility, co‑ordination, concentration and control of the body.
Stretch and Technique classes also consist of teaching correct technique for kicks, leaps, jumps and turns and is a fantastic class for students who wish to strengthen their technical dance ability.

Jazz

Jazz covers a wide range of dance styles that is forever changing.  It promotes fitness, flexibility and a healthy self-esteem.  In class dancers learn age appropriate routines to the many styles of jazz such as commercial, broadway and funk.

Lyrical/Contemporary

Contemporary and Lyrical classes have strong classical foundations.

Contemporary is a free style of dance where moves and choreography are drawn from modern styles of dance. Lyrical is often described as telling a story or communicating a feeling. A slower, soft, more expressive form of dance incorporating technical elements from both jazz and ballet.

Hip Hop

Inspired by dance moves seen in today's music video clips, this class involves the latest street dance movements to the latest music.

Students will learn the foundation of Hip Hop, develop rhythmic awareness, build

co-ordination and strengthen muscles with this fun and engaging class. Classes involve warm ups, hip-hop combinations and age appropriate routines.

Tap

Tap is perfect for those who like to move and make music at the same time.

Students will develop a keen sense of rhythm, balance, timing and musical awareness by percussive footwork that marks out rhythmic patterns on the floor.  Studying the Glenn Wood tap syllabus.

Private Lessons

These are for students who would like to compete in eisteddfods with solos and also for students who are preparing for exams or wanting to further their career in dance.

Students need to be prepared to practice at home and parents need to be dedicated and supportive to spend time at various eisteddfods etc. Private lessons give the student an opportunity to improve at a rapid pace to a high standard.
